For me I had to make a choice, it's not limited by money but pure and simple time, I current own four consoles Wii, Xbox 360 White, Xbox 360 Black Slim and of course my favourite PS3 which my kids and their friends mostly play.
I could have brought a PS4 sat on the lounge launched day play call of duty against some people I've never met before and be king of the nerds for a day. (First world problems)
But.. something change in 2013 I spent time in USA meeting other entrepreneurs soaking up books, meetings, video courses. As I watch those who are making 7-8 figure incomes I noticed that they all did something crazy like racing cars and motorbikes, jumping from planes, mountains with fly suits and surfing massive waves.
For me I was searching for something to that was easy for me to do and didn't require a large investment of my time to learn and was easy accessible for me living in regional NSW, so Mountain Bike riding was suggested by one my friends.
I can still remember the first part of this poem word for word from my year six speech back in the late 80's 🙂
'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze; He turned away the good old horse that served him many days; He dressed himself in cycling clothes, resplendent to be seen; He hurried off to town and bought a shining new machine; And as he wheeled it through the door, with air of lordly pride, The grinning shop assistant said, "Excuse me, can you ride?" Excerpt from Banjo Paterson's Mulga Bill's Bicycle
So I took the tightwad option, brought a cheap Mountain Bike (MTB) from a large supermarket retailer for less than $300 I took it for ride within the first 2klms I broke the crank (The part where the pedal connects to) and I gliding through the 3km course the handle bars started fall off as well. (Hence my reference to Mulga Bill's bicycle)
So a lesson was learnt, and I went a purchased a mid-range entry level bike to see if this mountain bike thing was going to really take off.
The bike cost $650 which is the same price as the PS4 launch date so far I've done over 50Km's with it, I had two flat tires, popped the Tyre from the rim and had my first stack.
I've enjoyed my first real mountain bike track in Merimbula The Mandeni that's where I cam off (I'll post the video to youtube) and enjoyed every second including the stack. For me it was just like snowboarding I could experience it with friends or by myself it didn't matter all that matter was the sound of my pedaling and my surrounds.
If you asked me 2yrs ago when I was 115KG (currently 85kg) that spending less time in front of a computer or would be more profitable I would of called you crazy.
So that's why I passed on the PS4.
